Airport Shootings: At Least One Person Killed, One Person Injured at Atlanta Airport

UPDATE (7:45pm ET): Passengers and employees are re-entry at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after shots were reported in one terminal Tuesday evening. According to NBC News, authorities have said that the injuries reported were from “a small fire” but did not know whether there were shots fired. The FBI has been called in to assist.

(8:00pm ET): One person was killed and another person was injured when a person pulled a handgun and fired shots Tuesday evening at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, CNN reports.

A spokeswoman for the airport told FOX Business the two victims are male passengers. They were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and received treatment.

Several flights that were heading to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport were diverted to Philadelphia International Airport.

The passenger appeared to be trying to light a fire before he opened fire.

“We are working with our colleagues at the police department as they investigate what transpired,” Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Keith White said in a statement.
