There’s a new pool in town that’ll let you float with the fishes: World Aquarium & Dolphinarium opened on Saturday, becoming the world’s tallest pool at 352 feet. All because the United Arab Emirates is such a great place to show off those enviable views. Well, at least for the first few months the planet’s highest pool will only be open to visitors, but once the attendant dive-in plunge pools are completely completed (expected July 2015), underwater guides will offer a hands-on experience with dolphin encounters, and go swimming around with a lantern-light show in the park.
The aquarium isn’t the only cool new feature for Dubai. The yearlong Mideast architectural exhibit “The Art of Architecture of the World” was opened by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum last week.
According to Vanity Fair, the exhibit — based on concepts developed by the likes of Rem Koolhaas, Rem Koolhaas, and Francis Scott Key — will be based at Dubai’s Seven Stars mall. While not all of the exhibits are absolutely mind-blowing, this is likely more an opportunity to educate the world’s youth about the global architecture world that started in DC.
