Kanye West and Taylor Swift are the biggest winners at the latest Grammy Awards, announced Monday, adding two more major awards to their “most decorated artist” and “most nominated artist” creds.
“When I first won Best New Artist at the Grammys in 2005, and was on the stage with Alicia Keys, Kanye took the stage with Fergie and Janet Jackson and Beyonce, and he wanted everyone to know that the Grammys was a new award system,” Swift said in a statement. “In my eyes, that was meant to be the beginning of a new era of Recording, as a competition, and as a culture.”
West received seven nods while Swift got seven nods, most for her crossover hit, “Look What You Made Me Do.” The “Look” video also received nine nominations and she picked up her ninth career Grammy with her latest album, “Reputation.”
The awards aired live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
