WATCH: Foo Fighters play live at Nationals Park

Foo Fighters made a very rare appearance at Nationals Park on Saturday night. The surprise cameo came at the end of the first inning — when a band of girls ran onto the field, startling the Nats.

“Hey, is that Dave Grohl?” the girls said, while Grohl turned to the Nats bench and said “What happened?”

“We are the Foo Fighters. Give us a high five!” he said.

Sensing the chaos, players immediately surrounded Grohl, who said that they were en route to Washington from their house in Nashville, where the band was recording a new album. When asked by a female Nats fan to join her and her friends, the Foos surprised all the young girls by picking them up and then leading the young ladies to their seats in the second row.

Grohl then performed a loud version of Nirvana’s “There Will Never Be Another You” as the band encored.
