Hanaa Al Saied, 60, was found dead Tuesday afternoon in a public car park in the Ajman emirate, an offshoot of the United Arab Emirates, with signs of a hand injury in her left hand, according to the Dubai Police.

While Dubai Police spokesman Maj. Gen. Ali al-Barghouthi told CNN there were no signs of forced entry and Al Saied’s room in the Ajman Palace Hotel was left unlocked, a police source said that police are investigating whether she may have been attacked while she was out walking.

Dubai Police Chief Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mansouri addressed the media late Tuesday, saying, “This was not the kind of case we will accept. This should not have happened.”

Authorities did not release Al Saied’s body and instead held a press conference to discuss her death.

“She was the victim of a man trying to prey on the love of a women,” Al Mansouri said.

“These crimes of these aggressive men harassing the public, especially women, in public places has become much more prevalent. This can become dangerous to them. The police will not allow any law violation or violation in the public,” he said.

The Emirates has seen a rise in incidents of such crimes in recent years. Last year, three women were drugged and dragged into a drain while on a cross-country hike in Ras Al Khaimah, a town on the north-western coast of the emirate, according to Mashreq Bank.
